Lexi's Field Trip

Alexis had her first field trip!

Her "school" program is wrapping up for the year (and unfortunately, due to budget cuts, seems to be wrapping up completely), and they finished up with a field trip to a local grocery store. Alexis was the only one from her class, but still had fun learning about heart-healthy foods with the children from the 3- and 4-year old classes.

The children were given special hats to wear, and started off hearing about taking care of their teeth. They then went throughout the store to learn about healthy foods and got to sample different fruits, vegetables, breads, snack mixes, and other items.

The butcher in the meat and seafood section talked about lean meats and gave the children the opportunity to touch the back of a real lobster!

Yeah, um, Alexis was not trying to touch that thing.

But she did enjoy looking at the lobsters in the tank!

Oh, and she liked using the hand sanitizer too!

Hopefully the budget situation can be worked out differently - the program is too beneficial to not save. Regardless, I'm glad that both of my children had the opportunity to participate!
